REDTAN89 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Does anyone know of a place on the internet I can download instructions for removing the headlight motors from my 89 Reatta. I bought a repair kit from a guy in Georgia but he didn't send the instructions. I can get them out, put I'd prefer to go about it the correct way. Thanks in advance for any help,Matt Manning

gordon140 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 If you are going to work on the passenger side motor, I suggest that you review my post of 11/5/05 "My Headlight repair experience"Have fun!
Barney Eaton Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I guess I should revise those instructions and tell about the new steel bellcranks.
Guest MauiWowee Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I bet that unless he buys the most excellent Barney steel bellcranks, he'll be disapointed. The little nylon thingies are only half the battle.

Booreatta Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 yah and the new and improved ones work well. I had a few issues with the 3 white rollers on the right side, has problems with the big white gear as the brushes fell out and it took two of us to get it back togather, but 2 paperclips work welljust my 2 cents
Guest Durahansolo Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 if you decide to keep the white gear that the bushings fit into instead of getting the Improved bellcrank from Barney, keep in mind that if the bushings dont fit in there then you can soak the gear in hot water which will cause it to expand just enough to slide all three of the bushings in. My dad did it to mine because the bushings wouldn't fit and they all slid right in lol.
Guest julioj Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 try using fishing line threaded to the cable of the brushes, they are held in place. Then have someone to slip both parts together and pull the fishing line out with the brushes seated. It worked for me! [color:\\"blue\\"]
Guest reattasteve Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Where do I get the bushings that go into the headlight motor? What do they look like when they are new, mine are in crumbs.....The belcrank looks like new.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 ebay is a good place. Also some corvette parts place onlineand I think Barney Eaton has them. Not sure, but I know he does sell a complete headlight rebuild kit and may sell separately.
