Centurion Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Danbury Mint has finally released its 1953 Roadmaster Estate Wagon in 1:24 scale. The company's recent 1948 Roadmaster Sedanette release is terrific, and it sounds as though the Estate Wagon surpasses it. Centurion Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Bill, there's currently one on Ebay, but it's up to $170+. More are certain to appear in the near future, so prices should begin coming down. This source has them for $165: http://www.phillymint.com/Danbury/Danbury1.htmWith a little more research of the various diecast dealers, I'm confident that you can find one in the $115 - $125 range. Many of the dealers have not yet updated their websites, however, to include this new offering, so a little patience may be required.
palbuick Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I just ordered one from Danbury at $ 115.You can probably go to their web site and order.Jim Schilf palbuick
59 98 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 HOW... COOL! Looks like I will have to be contacting Danbury Mint. Too bad they did not put a 37 Buick 3-speed manual transmission and shifter in it. Maybe I'll have to retrofit one with that trans and paint it flat white (hehe). It is definately good to see Danbury making the oddball cars more often and not re-re-re-re and re-doing the GTOs, tri-5 Chevys, and Camaros/Chevelles. Very refreshing. If anyone out there likes Lincolns, Danbury Mint also came out with an awesome turquoise/white 56 Premiere coupe with factory a/c.Thanks for the head's up, Brian!Matt
Centurion Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Thanks, Jim. I've also ordered mine this morning by telephone directly from Danbury Mint, although the model does not yet show up on their website. I understand that the Estate Wagon is back-ordered until the end of April, so I'll be waiting awhile.I agree with Matt that it's cool that Danbury Mint is doing cars like this Buick. I continue to hope that they will tackle the '54 Skylark and the '58 Limited in the future.
59 98 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 HA, there's not enough chrome in the US to even do a run of scale models of the Limited...(just a joke, please see thru to the sarcasm...)Matt
Centurion Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Yes, Matt, but I'm sure there is enough chrome in China where these things are made!(Isn't it a shame that even the replicas of our great American automobiles must be made overseas?)
