noliberalbull Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 The stereo in my Reatta (1989) has a whining/whistling sound that corresponds with the acceleration of the vehicle. It's done it since we bought it around 7 years ago. Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and knew of a solution.
NYBobP Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I had this problem after taking my 90 out storage last year. Found out it was a loose connection in the battery cables causing the whining. Tightened the cables and it went away.
Reatta45 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Check your ground connections but if you still have it, its an alternator noise. You have 1 or more diodes going out. You can put a filter capacitor at the alternator. (available at most auto parts places or Radio Shack), to mask the problem. This (usually) will take care of it, there is no real reduced charging problems associated with using the filter to remove the ripple. KennyV.
