1939 Caddy Rear Leaf Spring & Tank Color

Think the the springs should be black can someone verify? Also what shade of black? Gas tank natural? Straps?

Surely someone can help and provide this information? I guess plan B is to call a restoration shop like Hoovers or Prueitt's.

Hi Ron,

See if I can save you the dime for the phone call.

The rear springs would be black, just like the frame, rear housing, ect. As for the shade of black, I can only suggest whatever the rest of the chassis has been done in, just follow through. I usually don't start cutting the gloss by much until the early 50's. The tank was natural as you thought and tank straps black. This is how I've been doing Caddys or GM's in this era for years and so far the Judges haven't taken me to the wood shed because of it.
