mitchellpierre
My Grandma, Great Aunt and friends are having a laugh in this 1920 era photo!Does anybody know if the car is a 1919 Dodge Bros?Mike
cobourgkid
There just happens to be a well restored 1919 Dodge Touring on e-bay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Dod...spagenameZWDVW.Looks very much like your photo however the number of clincher lugs does not match up. Perhaps those more familiar with turn of the century tire technology can explain whether that is a material difference or not.Stephen
1937hd45
Those seven lugs were the first thing that I noticed. They do show in the 1919 photos in "The Dodge Story" by Thomas A. McPherson , as well as Dodge Brothers cars in 1916.

Guest 18DodgeBrothers
It is either a 1917 or a 1918 Dodge Brothers. The clamps and rims are 1st Kelsey. Seven clamps were used with these. The vehicle serial number range when 1st Kelsey's were used fall between January 1917 and October 1918. From November 1918 through January 1920, Dodge Brothers rims and clamps (6 clamps per wheel) were used. Prior to January 1917, Dodge Brothers used Stanweld rims and Dodge Brothers clamps (6 per wheel). The wheels narrow it to a 1917 or 1918, but nothing else from the picture indicates which one.In 1924, Dodge Brothers began using July 1 each year as the start of the next model year or "series." Thus a car built between July 1924 and June 1925 was referred to as a 1925 series. If this were applied to the years prior to 1924 and this car was built between July 1, 1918 and October 28, 1918 it could be referred to as a 1919 (but would have been titled as a 1917 or 1918, the calendar year it was built). This is most likely more info than you wanted.Les Hoffmann1918 Dodge Brothers TouringDodge Brothers Club
mitchellpierre
The detailed info provided by Les is exactly what I was seeking. Thanks loads. It will go a long way towards enhancing a great photo for our Family History File.Mike
