Guest crtnrds Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Can you buy these aftermarket to work on a Reatta (89)or can you use one from a wreck? The Dealer tells me they are $236 for the Reatta.
Guest MauiWowee Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 They are available on eBay for a lot less. Any that work for Reatta, Riviera, Allante, or Trofeo can be used. Programming instructions can be had here. I don't know about aftermarket ones. Here is one on eBay, although I paid less for mine. Good luck.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUICK-REA...QrdZ1QQtcZphoto
ikesleeping Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Any of them with the FCC code AB00702T will work. A search on e-bay will turn up more than a few. The one's that make no reference to Reattas are usually cheaper.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Try remotesunlimited.com. I checked there a while back and they have an aftermarket one with much larger buttons (not that recessed crap) for around $65
juddev Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 The cadillac remotes work great and have a longer range.usually 10-15 on ebay plus 5 for delivery.
dwmajk Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Are the programing instruction in the factory service manual.I have a 1990 remote that I would like to program to work with a just purchased 1991,Dealer I called said I need to change the theft control box under the dash or in the trunk, hope he is all wet.
Guest MauiWowee Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Before starting this procedure, BOTH transmitters must be present. Failureto use both transmitters will render the missing transmitter inoperative. If the customer uses only one transmitter on the vehicle, use thistransmitter as transmitter 1 and 2.The entire reprogramming sequence must be completed within 30 seconds ofgrounding the connector. If the procedure is not completed, remove theground at the connector and restart the procedure from step 11. Ignition "ON"2. Ground green single wire connector ( located near the ABS module in thetrunk.3. Wait for the door locks to lock and unlock ( should take 2 seconds)4. Press the "unlock" button on the first transmitter twice ( pauses forone second between presses)5. Wait for door locks to lock and unlock ( should take 2 seconds)6. Press the "unlock" button on the second transmitter twice ( pause forone second between presses)7. Wait for door locks to lock and unlock ( should take 2 seconds)8. Remove ground from green connector.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Yeah your dealer wanted a quick buck. It's really a <5 minute job
dwmajk Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 I really don't think the service writer really knew. just gives any answer to get you off the phone,As I said before without this great site most of the people with these cars could not maintain them.Really appreciate the response, will reprogram my remotes next week. I just love my Reatta.
Guest crtnrds Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 The service tech, at two different dealers, just looked it up on they're computer & said there were no interchangable units for the Reatta.
Guest MauiWowee Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Sorry, but they lied to you. One of mine has an Olds logo on it...........
Guest crtnrds Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 You know how to tell if a parts guy is lieing? See if his lips are moving.
ikesleeping Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Have the parts guy look up for FCC. AB00702T and watch his face.Any remote with this FCC number will work.I think I have extra around here somewhere.
bwarren Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I recently purchased this remote (see attached) and using the programming instructions mentioned above, the remote works great. I like it better then the original. I payed $27.00 with shipping inc. on ebay.
dwmajk Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Finally got around to reprogramming my 90 remotes so they will work on the 91.But I can not find where to attach the purple wire with the green plastic female conection, am I missing something, how do I ground this wire.My door key lock only works on passenger side and it is a pain to not have the remotes.
Hank Ryan Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> ... My door key lock only works on passenger side ... </div></div>Same on my 1991. Anybody else out there with this "feature"?
Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I've got the same thing, but my driver's key hole feels to be broken inside
Guest MauiWowee Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Grounding the green connector can be very simple, depending upon what you have available. I use an electrical tester, the kind with a 12 volt bulb inside a pointed pen-like do-hickey and a wire with a clip. It can be done with a length of wire, stripped on both ends, inserted into the connector and held to any good ground point in the trunk. This may require an extra set of hands.Good luck,
gordon140 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The Buick logo remote which came with my used 1989 Reatta has FCC code:AB00502T. It works well, so I am confident that this is another FCC code that is OK.
Guest inthespot Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The buton that makes the interior lights come on does not work on my remote. Is it me or the lights or the remote. My unlock button is almost worn away and hard to get it to push down, is there any way to build it up? Thanks
dwmajk Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Well I stoppped at a parts store on my way to the cape, they sold me a box of connections, which included {a spade} fits right inside the green plastic connection worked great. So now both remotes operate both cars as to opening the doors but now the trunk lock is not responding to the remote or the glove box button{used to respond to glove box button} in the 91. the 90 glove box button works as always.any advise would be great.I have repeated the reprograming presedure twice with no change.doors fine no trunk operation on the 91
racehorse Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Hey Guys, did all of the Reattas have the remote entry feature? If so, which of the remotes(caddy, olds, model etc.) should I look to purchase on ebay? Thanks in advance!
Rawja Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Horseman, Keyless entry was standard on all years except 1988.The Click Here link above for inexpensive Cadillac remotes that will work.
Guest maybe2fast Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 my light button on my remote doesn't work either...it did before but now it doesn't any ideas?
Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I've tried two remotes with my '89, but none have worked in programming. From what I've heard before, I think the antenna wire has become disconnected from the keyless entry module box. Where's it located?
89REATTAJIM Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 The keyless entry module box is under the upholstery in back of the driver's seat. Antenna wire runs from the box, up thru left rear pillar and exits in the center of the headliner and plugs into the antenna at the top of the rear window. The connector looks kinda like one that plugs onto a 9v battery. I almost had to be inside the car for my remote to work. Found my wire stuffed up into headliner. Plugged it to antenna, now it works better, like 6 to 10 feet away from car. Not a lot of range, but it works.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Eh, sounds like a PITA to get to, but I'll get to it one of these times. I checked the 9V-like connecting to the rear glass and it's fine.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 F14 did you ever get your 702t remote to work? If so please tell. I'm having the same issues.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I did figure it out. It seems my remotes are bad. They work, but are so weak, you have to be like in it for it to work. The '90 coupe came with a new OEM remote <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. I tried it out and my keyless entry works fine with it.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 F14 did you have a ab00702t Cadillac remote that didn't work? Or was it a OEM? I just got a ab00702t from ebay ($8). I can't seem to program my '89 with it. My thoughts were that these 702t remotes could be for '89 and '90 Reattas.
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I used a Buick remote. Um, does that answer that one? My bad.
reattadudes Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I've seen hundreds of Reatta remotes from 1989-1991, and they ALL have the same FCC number; GLQ9Z61507.we don't sell any used remotes (an invitation to disaster, in our opinion), but we do recommend either www.remotesunlimited.com, or www.keylessride.com we probably send about thirty customers per month to these two sites (and with the above FCC frequency number), and have gotten nothing but compliments about both companies' quick service. not a single problem with the remotes working, either.Mike
Guest F14CRAZY Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Forgot to say. The unlock button on my remote was worn through. Had to use a pen or something to press it. So, I carefully dremel-ed the stupid ridges off so the buttons aren't recessed. They're crazy small. A mod I'm suggest to anyone with a beatup remote that still works.
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Thanks for y'alls help <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Guest Reattach_1 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Update on the Cadillac AB00702t remote from ebay. It works fine now. I changed the battery and waited for the door locks to lock & unlock as instructed. It's a nice remote from cadillac. Thank you. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
EDGE Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Hey guys....do you know if the ab00702t alarm tag will work with a 1990 trofeo ?thanksEDGE
Guest F14CRAZY Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I'd take an educated guess and say yes
EDGE Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 yeah.. it looks like it should do...I have 2 after market tags here that have the fcc J5523518T1 that I got with the car.. they work ok during programming and then refuse to work at any point after... very odd... and trying to find someone over here in the uk that has half a clue about what's going on is a nightmare... that'll teach me to drive an American car... a quirky one at that.. over here in the UK...EDGE
Guest F14CRAZY Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 A Reatta in the UK? Hmmm...I've found old remotes to have very bad transmitting power. Have to like be in the car for them to work.
