weedpullr Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I don't know my car parts and need HELP ! I have this side mirror with no marks that I can see - It is about 8 " from frnt to back and the mirror itself is like 4& 1/2" diameter[color:\\"purple\\"] [ Looks 50s to me any input? thanks
Dave@Moon Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I have two of these. One has a Buick and Chevrolet part number cast into the inside of the base, the other does not. They are generic replacement mirrors identical in style and size to the 1959 and 1960 Chevy and Buick mirror. (I believe that Chevy also used this style in 1961, but I'm not sure.) They were probably made by the same supplier in the same molds, as my one base would indicate. The only difference is the plain head of the mirror, instead of the "bowtie" for the Chevy mirror and the word "BUICK" for the Buick mirror.A few years ago someone sold one of these on eBay in the original box, and I saved the pictures. I'll try to attach them here.
Dave@Moon Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Box (Please note that the box incorrectly dates the mirror to 1962. For Buick this was a 2 year only style, with even a subtle change from 1959 to 1960 in the head. I do not know that this mirror was used after 1960 on Chevys, although it may have been an off the shelf dealer item. Most Chevy aftermarket parts catalogs show a different mirror for 1961-1962.)
weedpullr Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 Yep, I think this probly fits into that "generic" sort of category. Since it has no markings. THanks a bunch for your help !
