springspeeddemon Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 My Dad bought a Murphy bodied Hudson four door convert a couple of years ago. It has a '27 chassis, and an all aluminum body with factory Hudson fenders that were widened. It also has Carl Zeis (?spelling)headlights. The front doors open suiside style, and the rears open normally, but they share hinge pins. I think I've seen Deusenbergs with the same arrangement. With this car being hand built by the same people that hand built the Deusenbergs, shouldnt it be on the list of true classics as well?
K8096 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 In the CCCA Directory, only the 1929 Hudson Series L is listed as a Full Classic as a series. However, since your car appears to have a full custom body by a recognized coachbuilder, I would encourage you to apply to the CCCA Classification Committee to have your Hudson accepted. I'm almost positive it will be. Let's see a picture!
West Peterson Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I agree. You shouldn't have any problems getting Classic status on this car.Zeiss (two esses) is still in business making some of the best camera lenses available.
JLee Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Back in 1975 a 1928 Hudson with a Murphy Town Car body was approved as a Full Classic. With the custom coachwork on your 1927 car it would be nice to see it presented to the Classification Committee. The current Chairman of the Committee is Bob Joynt. An application may be obtained with a phone call to National Headquarters. Jon Lee
