My odometer just quite working. Speedometer works fine. I purchased gas and pushed reset button. Neither trip odometer or odometer has worked since. Since speedometer works, I believe speed sensor is o.k. Is it something internal to the assembly. Car only has 11k miles on it and I know this is the first time it has been reset in probably 4 years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Very common problem, the lubrication used in the Odometer turns into glue at about 60,000 miles.

Larry at TCParts.com will be happy to get the unit fixed for you for a very reasonable price.

I have a "how to" remove project on my web site, don't try to replace the gear alone as I first did, it will just break again!

There are others such as myself that can fix your odometer. I don't know if Larry does it himself or sends it out. I do fix them myself.

Thanks for the info. After about 20 miles it just started working again. Which means it will probably quit working again. Thanks. Mike

We have a contract with a professional speedometer rebuilding company that not only replaces the two cheap gears, but also replaces the logic board. The unit comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Cost for fellow TC America club members is $175.

A few years ago I tried to buy the speedo gear from a few speedometer repair shops but none of them would sell it to me. Even if I offered $20 for what proably costs them $2. They all wanted $150 to $200 to "rebuild" my speedometer. I don't think so. I went to a u-pull it junk yard and got two gears out of early '90's LeBarons with under 80K miles. The guy at the check-out didn't even charge me for them. If I can find where I put the other one you can have it if you send a S.A.S.E.

Thanks, I would appreciate that. Please send me your address and I will get an envelope out to you. Thanks again. Mike
