Guest tomt Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 In an earlier post by Manikmekanic, he mentioned to be careful backing out of garages to preserve the vent window.I've always known about their cost, but have never thought about that as a reason that they are frequently broken. The mirror being pulled backward would go right through the vent window. That one really turned on a light for me. I always pull my Reatta far over in the garage, as Big Sheil pulls her Accord out much more frequently. I guess you could say I've been asking for it. Thanks for the hint on that one Randy. It was worth repeating.Tom
Guest tomt Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 No, I didn't do it, but sure have come close once or twice. Didn't realize the obvious consequence.
manikmekanik Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Shopping carts are another obstacle to consider. We park out in the "back nine" when we take any of ours to a facility with "parking on masse".I've wondered if anyone has lost a mirror or vent glass to people walking between closely parked cars, and catching the mirror with their hip on the way thru. I broke a mini-van mirror once with my shoulder, in the dark once, while running from an aggrivated Black Bear, in the U.P. That one left a mark for @ 2 weeks!Still better than waiting around to see what pi**ed off that bear! I don't think he liked my camera flash.
Guest tomt Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I agree, I'm usually out beyond the RVs at Wal-Mart. Nothing wrong with a little walk.I'll leave the Black Bears to you.
