Guest imported_virgilmule Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Anyone aware of an outlet for replacement rain gutters? Trying to clean up a 1930 Marmon, and "replacement" might be a better option than "repair" when it comes to the gutters!
Guest Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I don't remember the specific company but I bought rain gutters from a Model A Ford supplier. I discovered that they would have worked on my Pontiac but that they looked signifigantly different so I repaired my old ones. However they certainly would have been better than not having any.
Shop Rat Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 You might want to also post this on the Marmon Club Forum that is farther down the list on the main page of this web page.It is listed under "Other Automobiles and Clubs". Good luck.
critterpainter Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Bobs Automobilia 805 434 2963 has replacement aluminum rain gutters in 8' lengths (I think) These are nailed on and then an aluminum strip is folded down to hide the nails... or are you looking for steel?Bill
Friartuck Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Restoration Supply Company, Escondido, CA also has rain gutter in 12 foot lengths. Page 16 of their catalog: http://www.restorationstuff.com/Chris
Guest imported_virgilmule Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Bill -Thanks for the info. I would prefer steel since that is what the originals are(the "purist" in me). The Marmon's gutters appear very different than those you mentioned or the ones offered by "Restoration Supply Company" (see the post following yours). After mine were nailed on, a thin metal strip (which might actually be aluminum, given how light it is - I haven't tried the magnet test yet) snaps into place in a narrow channel built into the gutter. Very fancy, very fragile - kind or a fun challenge to restore (never thought I'd say THAT!)As they say, "It is the journey that makes your life."Jim
