Milada Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I own a Dodge probably from 1921. I have only the serial number of the car and of the motor, but I am not sure if the motor belongs to the car. I have looked into several books to find the type of the car, but I did not find the picture of it anywhere. Can anybody help me with the identification? Thank you very much in advance.Milada
Milada Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 The first ticket was fastened to the body - "BODY NUMBER DD 31900S, Dodge Brothers Corp., DIVISION OF CHRYSLER MOTORS" and the second one was fastened to the motor (engine)- DD 43354. Can you let me know how is it possible to find the information when you know these numbers? Can I ask you to be so kind and use formal English? I cannot understand the speech very well. Thank you very much in advance.Milada
Milada Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Can you explain what is misspelled? I got only "YES" from you. The numbers are: body no. - DD 31900S and the motor (engine) no. - DD 43354. Thank you in advance.Milada
nearchoclatetown Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Milada, your English is just fine. The body number probably won't help much in your search. The DD engine number shows that is a 1930 or 1931 6 cylinder engine. The wheelbase of this car should be 109 inches, and have many slots or louvers on the side of the hood that are all the same size. Can you show a picture of your car? Or if not, can you give a good discription of your car? The word that is misspelled is "nearchoclatetown", it should be nearchocOlatetown but that's too many letters for the forum.
nearchoclatetown Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Milada, if you go to www.dodgebrothersclub.org and look down the left side, you will see "photos of members vehicles". Click on this and look at the 1930 cars. There is a DD sedan and roadster. Does your car look like this?
Guest imported_Bill-W Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 The serial number (VIN) should be on a plate either attached to the instrument panel or on a plate attached to the right front door hinge post. The DD model used either the FEDCO system (plate on the dash) or a straight numeric affair (attached to the hinge post). The FEDCO numbers were six digits in length with the first digit a "D" (USA) or "B" (Canada), followed by three numbers then two more letters. The numberic VIN started with "3" in the in USA and "9" in Canada.BillVancouver, BC
Milada Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 The VIN number I have found on a plate attached to the right front door hinge post is 3514555.
hwellens Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 The 1930-31 Dodge DD serial numbers were from 3500001 - 3516115. Yours is in that span.
