EMS Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Does anyone know where to obtain differential parts for a 1954 Skylark. I have called everyplace in southeast MI and a few National Parts houses to no avail. The gears I have are scrap.Ed Syrocki586-754-3728emsclassiccarcare@sbcglobal.net
Guest BJM Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Ed,What is special about a 54 Skylark differential? Wouldn't these be the same as any other 54 Buick Century?
The Old Guy Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 The differntials were the same from 1940-1955. They had different ratios available from 4.4 -3.4 Any 53-55 V8 diff will work in your Skylark. The V8s had the taller gears ( 3.42 -3.6)
EMS Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 I know that I can use 53-55. My problem is that I can not find anybody with spider gears to sell. I have tried all the links on the BCA website (Buick Farm, Cars Inc., Etc.) I'm hoping somebody in this forum would know of somewhere that would have them.
