WE JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AND I AM LOOKING FOR INFO ON THE NUMBERS OF THE CAR.

WE ARE NEW WITH THE DODGE CLUB AND ANY INFORMATION THAT WE CAN GET WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THE #'S OF THE CAR ARE DR2281 8 OR 9.THESE #'S ARE ON THE FRAME. WE CAN NOT MAKE OUT THE LAST #. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT MOTOR IN IT. SOMEONE PUT IN A DESOTO SPITFIRE. WE ARE INTERESTED IN RESTORING IT TO FACTORY SPECS. WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN BUY A NEW MOTOR AND HAVE IT STAMPED TO MATCH THE FRAME#. IS THIS TRUE? FROM THE TELL TELL SIGNS OF THE CAR THIS WAS ONE OF THE 105 OF THE 1934 DRXX SERIES FROM THE THOMAS A. MCCPHERSON BOOK. DOES ANYONE HAVE A IDEAL WHERE YOU CAN GET A ENGINE (NEW OR REBUILT) AND GET THE #'S STAMPED ON IT.WE NEED HELP!

THANKS

The number you quote is the engine number, DR-22818, which makes it the 21,818th engine built. I suspect you have a DR and not a DRXX as the DRXX came late in the year. 94,158 DR engines were built for American DR and DRXX models plus Canadian-built DR models.

Where did you find the engine number on the frame?

The serial number should be stamped on a plate attached to the right front door hinge post. As the 1934 DOdges used 'suicide' doors, that means the hinge post is the centre post and not the post by the windshield. I believe the number was also stamped on the frame, right side, just behind the front axle. The number would start with a "3" for US DR models, "4" for DRXX models and "9" for Canadian DR models.

The engine number is stamped on the block, left side, upper front, just below the cylinder head. With that number I could tell what engine your car has.
