My son and I are driving in from Albany NY. We plan to try and make it to the Microtel outside Cleveland on Sunday night. From there to Chicago, where I may pick up my wife at one of the airports on Monday night, then drive into Rochester MN on Tuesday to arrive in the afternoon.

Does that meet up with anyone?

I'm hedging on 2007 in Seattle. Finances may prevent me from going to that one. But my post was meant for Rochester Minnesota.

I am also seeking to contact BCA Members from the Western USA planning to attend the Rochester Minnestota Meet. I will be driving my 1950 Buick Super "126" Tourback (photo attached) from Denver Colorado through Nebraska and Iowa across Interstate 80 arriving in Rochester on July 12th. It would be nice to travel in a small convoy. My straight-eight Fireball with Dynaflow likes to cruise at 65-mph ... so I expect I will get my fair share of one-finger salutes from motorists who like to cruise at 85-mph on the Interstates. Last weekend I drove up Interstate 25 to Fort Collins to visit the Classical Gas Station. Got 2 thumbs-up from old Chevy ElCamino drivers... and 4 single fingers from stinkin' yuppies in BMWs and Lexus SUVs.

I know there is a group leaving from Seattle and Portland for the Rochester meet. I don't think they plan to go via Denver, but you may want to join up with them.

Mark ... Wow! That would be a hell of long Road Trip. There should be some kind of formula for awarding prizes in the "Driven" Class ... Like Age of Car X Distance Driven. Your 1931 Buick from Vancouver to Rochester would be: 75-years-old X 1600-miles = 120,000 Points! I will inquire if the Seattle/Portland group plans to take I-94 through Fargo or I-90 through Sioux Falls. I mounted brand new Coker poly bias-ply wide white walls (photo attached) for the trip. Not as smooth as steel-belted radials, but authentic. Thanks.

OldCarPosters, I have the overnight stops and contact information for the Seattle and Portland folks. This caravan is organized by the North Cascade Chapter, who is hosting the 2007 meet in Seattle.

Leaving the Seattle area on Friday, July 7, the group has planned its route to follow portions of the historic Yellowstone Trail. Each night's destinations are as follows:

Post Falls, Idaho, July 7

Livingston, Montana, July 8

Bowman, North Dakota, July 9

Watertown, South Dakota, July 10

Rochester, Minnesota, July 11

If you're planning to attend the National Meet and your route will bring you close to the caravan route, please plan to participate. Hotel arrangements for each overnight have been made, so you will want to obtain the details and make your reservations as soon as possible.

Contact person is Gene Lander at buick31grl@juno.com

There should be a good mix of straight-8 and V8 cars, and you'll never find a nicer group of people to travel with.

Those single finger salutes are only done because those idiots realize your car is paid for and you're even having FUN in it..A concept thay will never understand since they have to keep working to pay for their extravagence.

Beautiful car by the way. Hope to see you in Rochester!

Centurian - Thanks for posting the route planned by the North Cascade Chapter. I don't think I'll be driving that far North, but I like your idea of taking the scenic Yellowstone Trail. I'll be taking the Old Lincoln Highway (Hiway 30 parallel to Interstate 80) through Nebraska and Iowa with a stop in Lincoln, Nebraska to visit the Dealership where my Buick Super was originally sold (now a Hyundai Dealer). I hope to find some really good greasy spoon Diners along Hiway 30 (like the one in the attached picture) and some fellow BCA travelers along the way.

Jim, in case no one has welcomed you yet....Welcome aboard!! and your 50 Super Tourback is beautiful. I hope you'll check out our Me and My Buick forum and post your stories and pictures there. They are some beautiful photos so far.

Jim, I recently purchased the classic John Wayne film -- "The High and the Mighty" -- on DVD. The introduction to the film on DVD shows a beautiful 1950 Buick like yours, parked on the airport apron next to a vintage airliner. You might enjoy checking it out.

Brian ... John Wayne AND a 1950 Buick Super? It doesn't get any better than that. I just ordered the 2-disc DVD (attachment) and I'm planning a 1950's double-feature next weekend at my neighbor's house: "The High & The Mighty" with John Wayne ... and "God Created Woman" starring Brigitte Bardot. That reminds me ... I hope there is a Drive-In Movie Theater near Rochester. Can you imagine row after row of shiny Vintage Buicks parked in front of the big outdoor screen? Thanks for the movie tip.

I am unfortunately unable to attend the national meet in Rochester, but we'll have 19 old Buicks heading out from Seattle on this Friday morning, July 7. Among the cars making the drive (not-trailered) to Minnesota and back will be straight-8 Buicks from 1941, 1948, and 1951. It's great to see BCA members keeping their fine vintage Buicks on the road! They'll be traveling old U.S. Highway 2 on the first part of the trip, which will be a wonderful trek in the Buicks. I only wish I were driving with them.
