Guest Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 If you stick with a 14X7 wheel...make it a LATER 70's wheel in case you decide to do disc brakes...they have a different inside for disc clearence. Your best bet is to go with a 15X7 wheel...clearence is NO PROB...you can run the Dog Dish caps...and tires are a plenty!I had 3 sets of wheels & tires for my 1970 W-31 and one was 15X7 in front & 15X8 in the rear...with the Dog Dish Caps...looked great! They make after-market painted wheels...but smooth centered.COKER.COM...has NEW wheels (with the nubs) that come primed in 14 and 15 sizes up to 8 wide for about $80 each. Why mess with a used wheel? Just make sure of your BACK-SPACING!
Oldsfan Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I had 14x7 steel rims on my '72 Cutlass and had no clearance issues with the disc brakes.Paul
