MattR
I came upon what I believe is a 20's something Dodge Brothers Touring body. I need some help IDing and deteremining what year of body this is. The only ID I can see thus far is the lone guage left in the car which is the speedo and it says Dodge Brothers. Thus far I've found no badges or numbers of any kind. By googling Dodge Brothers I can see that this body appears to be a Touring. All I have is the body - no frame, drive train or anything else. It does have electric start. Any hints of how to id this car? I found the body in the rafters of an old barn. The owner of the barn believes that body had been there for over 40 years. Have found a letter and an advertisement from 1924 in what was left of the front seat.Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. - Matt
alsfarms
You are right about thinking it is Dodge Bros. This body is an early 22 or earlier. Can't see the doors, that would help determine....Al
nearchoclatetown
A picture of the complete dash would tell us a lot.
gboy
It looks like part of the rear fender is still there. from what I can see on the body and fender,it looks like the fender mounts to the body by a flange on the body. the last year the fenders were mounted to a flange on the body should have been 1919. I would guess it earlier than 1919
Guest imported_RAH
Matt, As has been mentioned the body is not '15 but could be '17 to '19. A pix of the dash and diameter of the windshield stanscion holes will narrow it down.Rodger "Dodger" Hartley
MattR
Ok I was able to get a couple more pics of the dash which I've attached. The windshield stansion holes measure around .710-.715" diameter which I believe is about 11/16". The seat bottoms are gone and on the front seat support is a tag that says:ALL STEEL BODYthen has 7 patent no's ranging in date from 1915 thru 1917. EDW G. BUDD MFG CO. Philadelphia, PABody is pretty solid, but doors are poor, and I'm missing the front left door.Any more info you can share would be a big help.- Matt
nearchoclatetown
I'm guessing '19 or early '20.
Guest imported_RAH
Matt, Given the dash layout and 11/16" dia windshield shanks ('16 - '18),and the black face speedo. (introduced '17) It would nail down this body to '18 ONLY. The '16 -'17 had a glove box in the dash and the '19 had 7/8" windshield stanscion posts. I hope this helps.Rodger "Dodger" Hartley
nearchoclatetown
I concede to RAH, I thought '18 still had the glove box. Sorry for my mistake.
