Guest
My girlfriend's 88 Regal has too many problems. I'm trying to get her out of that iffy 2.8 and into a bulletproof 3.8 like me. She doesn't have that much money, but she really likes the Riviera and the Reatta. I just found one nearby with high miles, at a price that's doable. However at 175,000 miles I don't want to take any chances. I'd like to know what to look for as far as problem wise. I have too many cars that need fixing, and don't need another. Any things that might give me trouble? I'm looking at it tomorrow, so I need responses soon.
thanks,
------------------
-Keith
'87 Lesabre T-type (The T without WHOOSH)
'86 Regal w/350 (still in progress)
http://members.nbci.com/lesabrettype/index.html
Guest
With the high miles I am assuming that it is a 88 or 89 which means it has the touch screen CRT and computer controls. One thing to check is that the touch screen and all functions are operating properly. It would be a good idea to do a search on this site for the "brake test" data and do that test when you look at the car. You may want to go to CARFAX.COM with the VIN number and make sure it had not had major damage in the past. I had a 1989 with 137K miles that still ran great. The headlight motors are another problem area but parts to repair are available. If you can, drive the car at night and make sure the headlights don't vibrate when open and on. Another commmon problem, but on that can be fixed. Tom Jenkins FAQ page that can be linked to from this site will give you some great data also.
------------------
My Topless Reattahttp://hometown.aol.com/drbuch2000/TheReatta.html
Guest
Sorry, the guy called back three hours later, and said the car was sold. This is a real disapointment, I probably would have bought the car for more than the other other guy. I really need a car for her, can anyone help?
-T
