Transmission problem?

I believe the transmission in my Reatta has stopped dropping into 1st gear when coming to a stop. When first putting the car in drive, after start up, the car shifts normally. But, after the car shifts into second and beyond, it seeems to never drop back into first. When I take off from a dead stop, it feels as though the trans is slipping. Well, put her in the shop Thursday night, for I was leaving for a long weekend Friday morning (glad I wasn't relying on the Reatta for this trip). As of now, I still don't know exactly what is wrong, but I do know the tranny is being pulled tomorrow.
