'89 TC need parts, have questions

Recommended Posts

First post. Bought a '89 2.2 Yellow, beautifull car. I'm looking for the center wheel embelem , need one. I'd like the owners manual, I have the service manual. Can't set the clock on the radio, anyone know how? Speedo..meter works, after replacing the fuse, but the odometer does not register. Bought the car this way. Changed the rear shocks w/ KBYs' made a difference but the front bottoms when you hit a hole or bump. Is this the struts or the springs? Also, kind of clunks when you first shift in to D or R. Any help with the parts or my questions would be appreciated. Thanks. Joe47

Sounds a lot like you bought my car. Stiffer springs can help up front-Daytona sport susp I was told-search the posts. Tese cars clunk on shifting but check your motor mount bushings. Odo needs repairing by you or TCParts Larry. Just did mine. Ebay's good for manuals. Enjoy!

Thanks Jeffn for the reply. One thing I forgot to list was the muffler.. Been to local shops.. and PEP BOYS, no listing in computer. Any one know where I could get one? Chrysler dealers here are no help.

Any good muffler shop or maybe a Flowmaster or some such. Measure yours and shop online. Or just get whole new cat back or new cat as well for better performance. Search in here for exhoaust posts. 2.5" mandrel bent all the way back will make a noticible difference.

Hi JIM... Missed the 8/16 meet... just saw this message today. I don't check this fourm every day. I'll try to come on the 20th at Republic. Also, I'm a member of the club, joined just after buying my TC. I found the parts I was looking for thru Larry Carlson . Let me know more about the meet on Sat. Thanks Joe47

Jeff & Joe,

The mopar group are mostly muscle cars,an occasional avenger has shown up.

If you bring a TC I can assure you,we'll be the only ones there. No other TD's are ever show.

A good friend is a member so I cruise and shoot the breeze. He'll have the Orange Daytona from his fleet.

This is the awards show, but most of the meets are at night in Hicksville/Massapequa area(http://www.moparpowerclub.com/upcoming_events.htm),so Jeff you might be able to join us then.

Saw a red TC in a Point Lookout gas station on Friday 8/19(with a huge ugly wing on it)hope it wasn't one you 2,<img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />,maybe it needs to be rescued.

Other than that I rarely see them on LI.

A real clean 89 red in Great Neck parked on N Blvd about 2 months ago, another red one 2 weeks ago in front of Louie's in Pt Washington, a yellow one in Baldwin.

Have yet to see a black or white and I own a Red and a Bordeaux that's sitting right now.

Let's try and meet up if not tomorrow,Bellemore-Fridays or Oceanside-Nathan's on Wednesdays.

I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Yeah, ther'd be safety in numbers and ridicule if we showed up alone.

Today's out for me but Bellmore sounds good Friday.

There's a yellow in MAssapequa Pk that was for sale. That's the only one I know of. Someone has a black in somewhere like Hauppague with 8k on it.

Jeff & Jim I went Sat. to Republic. Was the only TC there. Met Frank, president of the Mopar Power Club, nice guy, the only one to come over to the TC. Told me about the club, seems nice, family orientated, but..the TC was probaly the only car under 200hp. Even a '42 Dodge had us beat. Anyway , it was good to see those muscle cars from the sixties. Good idea if we meet sometime. Would like to see other TC's. By the way, I might be the yellow TC you see in Baldwin, although my neighbor has said he saw one on Grand Ave. and this was before I got mine. Could there be two yellows in the same town? Joe

Joe,

I must have showed up(2:45) after you got there about. My friends were the one's with the orange Daytona(Steve)and yellow Superbird(Rich).

You would think they would have mentioned something to me.

Most people in the club are friendly.I'm sure we have the slant 6's beat!

The yellow one I saw once at Pep boys last summer, the original owner was having it serviced and was thinking of selling it.

Was that the one you purchased?

Hondo I bought my TC from a guy in East Meadow. Don't think it was the same car. Sorry I missed you at Republic. Did see the Daytona . Was there when he landed. What a car. Frank told me that the club has one member with a TC. Finally got my parts ordered from Larry. Still need help with the odometer, does not register. I know there is a fix from Larry but I have not taken it out yet. Anybody know how to set the clock on the radio? Tried all the buttons with the set button but ng. Joe47

Joe,

My friend Steve(know him 20years) with the Dayona has 7 mopars.No TC's.

I can set the clock,I just have to write it down for you or let you take a look @ owners manual.I actually did it by playing around.

Odo common problem, but I use my TC on occasion so doesn't really matter to me.My other one has same problem as long as I know I'm not going to fast I'm ok.Have a bud who's a mopar mechanic, said he'll take a peek.

Jim
