Still, when she sees one, whether in person, or on TV/internet, she says that she would like to have another. I always remember her saying it never had brakes that were any account! I have collected a few things like die-casts of them and photos.Bill has said that when he gets both the cars together that we have now there will be room in the garage for a Metro. That will be my car if we are able to find one. But I want one that is already restored or a really good original. No more basket case cars. Please post photos of the new one. I was out in my back garage yesterday measuring to see if I can get two Mets & my 62 Buick in there together. In the garage I have two columns supporting a full workshop loft. There is 155" between them and the Met measures 149 1/2". I can wheel the car in between the columns and park the other one on the side, plus the Buick on the other side and still walk around them. I did find this locally, actually it found me. I was at a large car show last Sunday with my 57 Met, and a guy approched me and asked if I was interested in buying another one. Apparently, it was his uncles car and he had it in storage for 19 years. It was originally a Colorado car. Sometimes you find the best cars close to home. One of the nicest ones I have seen belongs to a guy named Ernie (ACKK I can't remember his last name! ). Not sure of the official name of the colors but I would call them salmon and white. I first saw it at a show near Baltimore years ago. He was staying at the same campground were we were so we got to see it up close and got to know him and his family. We have seen it several times since then. He has some very cool little cars in his collection. I bought 1 Amphi a few years ago and so far I have had a number of them. I now have 3.5 Boats, 3.5 cars in my 2 car garage! I see you have a Metropolitan garage mover beside the car in the picture Wayne posted above. Last time I was at Macungie's Das Awkscht Fescht a few years ago I thought the Metropolitan factory was still in production and located in Macungie as there was so many of them at the show. How many times have you been asked if it floats? I know many mistake the Amphicar for a Metropolitan.John, your garage is shrinking as the picture you sent me a few years ago had much more room. The photos were taken in my son's garage, but we moved it to mine yesterday. That cherry picker next to the Met comes in real handy at both our garages. I wouldn't pull a motor any other way.Steve, Willie looks great too!! Great summer for a rag top......I missed Macungie again this year, I heard the turnout for the Met meet was light. I may be there with 2 Mets next year. It sure is a great place for a show....John, your garage looks normal to me.........you may be able to fit a Met sideways between the aqua & white car... I was chatting with a fellow Metropolitan Club person on the internet who was interested in buying my Met back in 1981 when it was in Colorado....he talked to the original owner..........small, small world we live in.
