Oil Stain on Upholstery

Recommended Posts

While preparing for a car show I took a bottle of Windex off the shelf in the garage not seeing it had oil on the bottom of the bottle, as a result of sitting next to a funnel. Like a dumb a$$ I laid the Windex on the front seat wool upholstery and the oil left a stain. My wife tried to get it out with Woolite upholstery cleaner and another mild detergent, its better but you can see plainly see the stain. I am really sick over this and can't believe I was so stupid but I am hoping that someone will have a suggestion as what will work on wool, as a stain remover, for motor oil. I'd apprecaiate any help, suggestions. Thanks

I have found that shaving cream in the spray can variety and a stiff bristle brush will remove some heavy duty oil stains from car upholstrey as well as oil foot prints from household rugs.

YES!!!Having nothing to loose because the appointment had been made to have the seat re-upholstered, my wonderful wife applied a laundry cleaner "Shout" on the oil stain, followed by 2 applications of "Woolite Carpet Cleaner" the oil stain came out without any residue markings whatsoever. I was lucky!!!
