Howdydo!
Has anyone put a new computer chip in a Reatta? Just curious.
http://www.superchips.com/
Supposedly this place makes new chips for Reattas. Supposed to improve performance, drivability, etc. But I'm pretty skeptical about putting in a new chip in this collectible. It's fine for a one of a million Honda, but I don't know about a rare Reatta.
I have a FastChip in mine from www.fastchip.com I have been running it since December in my '89. I also use a K&N replacement air filter. With the chip I now require HiTest gas (93 octane), but the car has noticably improved performance (peppier). Though not a scientific analysis, I am happy with it.
Good Luck

I agree with "Rong", I have a Fastchips also. They are also less expensive than Superchips. If you want to experiment a little, like I did, you can get the timing curve advanced about four degrees more if you run 93 octane and a 160 thermostat. If you run the cooler thermostat you can get the timing more advanced and the fan code changed to engage at a lower temperature for the same price as their "standard" 91 octane chip. The guy to contact at Fastchips is Ed Wright. As far as bothering the collectability, you keep your original chip and simply reinstall when you feel like it.
------------------
Hal, btk@vbe.com
