Guest imported_Speedster
I remember seeing a cylinder primer cup like this on a 2 cylinder John-Deere Tractor. I think it was a late '40s model. I doubt one that large was ever used succesfully on Packards.
Guest BigKev
Eric,I think this was a rare factory Decal specialy made for the those supercharged Packard V8's like yours! Decal
Guest BigKev
Would this style brake drum puller work on the rears drums on my '54?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...275541&rd=1,
Guest imported_PackardV8
The big centre screw is for appying pressure on the puller but NOT to be turned until the drum pops off. Pressure is applied wit hthe screw (of any of these type) and then the hex end of the screw is struck HARD with a 2wo pound hammer. Repeat rpocess if necessary. THe reality of taper fit assemblies is that no amount of pressure or pulling will seperate them. The pressure applied is only a kind of auxillary helper. It is the IMPACT from being struck that shakes the taper loose. I have one like the one on eBay and they are an economy grade tool for this application and i've seen several with broken legs. The better tool is one like BH described and is geared more toward heavy duty service.FORGET THE IMPACT WRENCH!!!!!!!!! It is USELESS in this application. Clipper47
Kev, I can scan you the same manual to put on your site if you would like. I got it from a Jeep website a couple of years ago. I also have some 1957-58 Packard TSB's that I have been meaning to send. They came with a 1954 Service manual.

Guest Albert
Big Kev that is the same wheel puller that i have, and it does work good for pulling the packard drums, but i paid no where near that for mine, i picked mine up for $60 at a local car swap meet.. Guest JT
I can't believe what that one went for on ebay. Looks like two bidders got carried away. I paid $75 for mine and I've seen several in the $50 to $100 range.
Guest BigKev
I've noticed lots of parts and specialty tools just go through the roof in piece recently. I also noticed some of the rare pieces are being bought up by Packard suppliers at pretty high prices, or at least people with simular Ebay names. I guess they plan on reselling them for even higher prices.I guess as long as there are people out there willing to pay those kinda prices, we are going to see higher and higher prices. This is the reason I dont bid on anything till the last couple minutes. I never want to get into a bid war with someone with more money then sense. It's way smarter to bid at the last minute and proxy bid the maxiumum you are willing to pay for it. If it was meant to be, so be it.Well I did get one thing off of ebay today. I manged to get that missing heat shield I didnt know I was missing. Small victories, but I'll take what I can get!

Guest Albert
Kev.. they still make those.. they are used for putting on the oil pans with the motor in the car, you put one in each corner of the bottom of the block, then push the oil pan on to them and they will hold it while you put in the rest of the bolts, then you remove them once you get some of the other bolts in place. Guest Randy Berger
It's so ugly I like it. Guest BigKev
It's just scarey how the driver sits so far back, and imagine how top-heavy that thing must be. It looks like a joint constuction effort between the 3 Stooges and the Little Rascal Gang. All we need is Ricky and Fred to pile a ton of luggage onto it and drive it to Calif. Packard8
WOW!!...Perfect example of ?One man?s trash is another man?s treasure?.I guess this guy is looking for the ?other man??(with $1.5 million in his pocket). In this case, I think it would pay to hire a few fulltime ppl to list the rarer items one at a time on eBay and get a premium price. The rest will likely end up at the scrap yard anyway.
