Two questions...

Recommended Posts

So, it's time to start driving my TC again and I have two issues I'm working on...

1) The automatic transmission downshift cable is not releasing as easy as it should. It's got some "drag" to it... Is there supposed to be a spring up in the throttle body that pulls this cable back when you let off the gas? There is a post that looks like it holds a spring.

2) When I took off my door panel, the insulation has turned to black tary gunk... How to I replace this stuff? Is the panel insulation a stock part?

Since I have 5 engines sitting down stairs and can't shut up anyway, I just checked. There is a light spring at the transmission end in the rubber boot. Try disconnecting the cable at the throttle body, and spraying PB Blaster down the wire to ungunk it. Just went and checked. There IS a place for spring, none on mine. The older TI mopar cars did have a return spring there. Look for older TI chryslers in "junque yard" for spring. Also PB the throttle and cruise cables.

For the door insulation, try headliner material from fabric store or auto upholsterer and building plastic for the vapor barrier. It can't be worse than the original. This is the same gunk I found under the center console. Must be Italian foam. The other mopars had better foam.

AND I just got a common block TII short block with forged everything for my GTS yesterday!!!!! Now I have to find the holy grail. A common block with a C on it.(made in Mexico-better casting process due to new in 89 foundry)

Did "tary" go through spell check as a "gunky material" or " a lingering substance"? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

jeff, I just bought a TII Daytona and there IS a double spring there. You can probably get one off any like year turbo in a yard.

One day late for April first. I also picked up a one year old Lamborgini for $695 at the same police abandoned vehicle auction.. I found the phone number of the owner in the phone book. The woman answered the phone and I asked her why she didn't pick it up. She said when she came home 3 months ago from grocery shopping, there was a note from her husband.

Hi sweety,

Things just haven't been good the last few years with us. I flew to Cancun and married my secretary. You can have everything. Just sell my Lambo and send us the money.

She said she replied.

Hi hon,

Hope you and Becky have a good time. I misplaced the car, but as soon as I find it, I'll let you know. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
