Guest Albert
I have made up an excel spreedsheet listing the standard part#s from the 30's up from the catalogs as I find any Packards information in them, and have been up dating it as I find more more catalogs, so far i have Wagner (brakes) Blue Streek (electrical) GP (Ignition) Felpro (gaskets) Stant (thermostats/ rad caps)Fram (filters), Champion (sparkplugs) Carquest (brakes) EIS (brakes). As some parts are current #'s and are not special order. I would like to find a supension book, (shock's/front end parts) Universial joint's etc, as it would be nice to have various other companys numbers for when going to even the flea markets, as I find most vendors do not have the books, and quit often you can pick up ie brushes for a $1 or distributer caps cheep if you know what things fit. Twitch
you sent me that spread sheet, thankyou! Don't think it will attach here for download though. Yes I figure since lots of stuff is a duplicate it may be found in places you wouldn't think. You are right- distributor caps listed for 53-56 with Delco are same as a bunch of old Chevys and other cars. The coil thing- Packard 6v coil $60 from Kanter and new stock equivalents cost like $16 from other sources!!

Guest Albert
Mark I ordered a complete gasket set yesterday for the 54 Panama and got it today from one of our auto jobbers we deal with for $235cdn with taxes delevered to my door. Felpro # FS7628S fits 1948-54.
WCraigH
Albert: when you say "complete gasket set", what does that include? $235cdn sounds like a lot if it's only for the engine. OTH, if it's rubber gaskets for the entire car, then that is a heck of a deal.
Guest imported_Speedster
Kanter has an engine-overhaul gasket set for $95. ( I don't know how complete it is tho) for '54.
Guest Albert
It maybe a little higher than Kanter's price, but by the time i look at the $95us from kanters plus, the exchange rate plus, there shipping costs, then i still have to pay 15% taxes here when it crosses the border. And then on the other hand i was able to have it the next day, which can come in handy if you blow a head gastet out some where away from home there is another source. Guest imported_Speedster
Yes, They have been there a long time. I called them many times when I was trying find parts for my '29 and the '37, but they never had the parts I needed. I think their supply is very limited. (At least it was then)
Twitch
Since we we re talking about 6v alternators- a custom body guy told me he saw a 6v alternator inside of what looks like a generator case!! Guest 51Patty400
Thats a good deal considering customers, conversion etc.Fortunatly the motor is the ONE thing I don't need to fix right now :-)If I decided to repair the original motor and put it back in the car, then I will have you pick me up a kit.I am working on hte radio and repainting the horn emblem (I have a spare if you need)- Mark
Twitch
Don't know exactly what all folks with 48-54s have for air cleaners but found on my type- see attachment- a paper filter 8" diameter by 1 1/2" thick works nicely in place of the oil bath thing for normal driving. Don't know what exact filter brands and numbers work but it's real easy to go into the auto parts places and measure. I had one in the garage from an unknown source that hapilly fit.
Guest 51Patty400
Mine looks like this. I haven't even opened it yet. Its coming off the car this week to be pounded back into shape by a little tiny hammer and 600 hrs of work.LOL- Mark
