vliposky
Seems like you have to learn new "feel" of brake pedal every time you get in car or you will put your rear seat passengers on the floor at the first stop lite! Seems like the last '55 was kind of like that too... Anybody know of easy modern brake pedal / master cylinder fix? (Not too expensive...)
jaxops
I am just learning these cars, but it is a mechanical adjustment for the brake pedal just inside the firewall. See if you have 7/16ths clearance and no more or less between the firewall and the groove in the brake pedal rod. If that isn't the problem, then it may be well in your master cylinder, which is not expensive to replace or refurbish. I had mine overhauled, and except for this very brake pedal adjustment, the brakes work well. (My pedal doesn't come off of the brake stoplight switch so it needs slightly more travel). I have to bust the rusted adjustment nuts and then it should be easy.Good luck.
