Guest
I'm planning to rebuild the front end of this 64 skylark, but the kits indicate 2 available, depending on the size of the centerlink (13/16 or 7/8).If I keep my centerlink how can I tell, or where should I measure to find its size? If I should get a new centerlink will the 7/8 fit any 64 skylark? thanks, norm
56Roadmaster
Norm,
if i remember right you should measure the diameter of the bar any where between the pitman arm and idler arm connections.
usaully GM has a heavier steering suspension combo for the sportier models ie, skylark vs. GS, Tempest vs GTO. generally the case; That's not to say that a standard model could not have been odered with heavy duty suspension.
Not sure where you are getting parts, but you may want to check NAPA or your favorite jobber, some of this stuff is still available and just as good quality for less than 'restoration suppliers' who think they are the only game in town!
