i was just wondering what the consistency of undercoating is? is it more like shiny paint or is more of like kind of matte?
my problem is i've been chiseling away what i think is 50 years of gunk/dirt (i had a post on here a while back about it)from my chassis and quarter panels. and underneath is a fairly shiny, well i guess more of a satin black finish.
so i thought this (the satin finish) was the undercoating.
but then i bought some undercoating to apply on the underside of my hood and it vaguely resembles the gunky stuff that i've been chiseling at for the past month. have i been removing the undercoat on the chassis and quarter panels?
can anyone help me?
thanks in advance,
will

Yep ---you're down to the chassis paint. The undercoating is rough and gooky.

The undercaoting is thick and lumpy.
The black you are seeing is some kind of primer.
I found it on the underside of my front fenders, in places that you could not reach, unless they were removed.
Assuming it was put there from the factory.
