1959 Chev Spiral Shocks

Does anyone have a difinitive answer as the color of the original spiral shocks for a 1959 convertible?

Please do not answer unless you have a documented answer. I would hate to remove them, paint them and find out it was someone's personal opinion.

First, consider that the shocks were produced by Delco, then GM's internal supplier of shock absorbers. Delco used a dark blue for decades for their parts and components (sometimes interpersed with Delco Orange, such as the lid on a cartridge oil filter system. You might check with Late Great Chevy's out of suburban Orlando FL, they are an excellent resource for not only parts, but also authentication advice such as you are seeking.
