Anti-theft Ideas - Wire Hubcaps 1953 Roadmaster

I just bought 4 "V" (V8) wire hubcaps for my 1953 Roadmaster on ebay.com. Now I'm concerned about them getting 'feet' in the middle of the night when I take road trips.
Do they make locks for these? Need suggestions from other 'wire' owners on what you did to protect them (other than tie the Rottweiler to the car).
While we are on the subject of hubcaps. Anybody know where I can get a spare wire hubcap to keep on hand.

Rottweiler? They eat a lot and take up too much room in the car...
A Glock 9mm on the other hand packs away nicely.

JMC

These wire wheel covers do not just snap on like modern ones.
The are secured on with either 1 or 2 of the actual wheel lug nuts.
I suppose you could but some of those wheel locks that fit modern cars, and use one of them on each wheel. They are made by McGuard.
For somebody to steal your covers they would have to remove the lug nuts.
Your hub may have screw threads rather that bolt holes, so you may have to install either all new studs, or just one for the wheel nut lock to work properly. I had mine converted to studs.
Scott Mich
Assistant Director
Chicagoland Chapter
[ 04-22-2002: Message edited by: scott mich bca # 6619 ]

Hi Tom.
FYI: There are two different size wire wheel covers available for the 1953 model.
The difference is the depth of inner bowl.
The part that actualy contacts the wheel in the middle.
The Roadmaster takes the deeper bowl.
I'm not sure about which the Super takes, but the Specail takes the smaller one.
I found this out the hard way.
I had six of them, and had them rebuilt, and got 4 good ones. 3 of one size and 1 of the smaller! We fixed it.
Scott
