Tim Surrency
Hello All,I've run across a beautiful Blue 1989 Reatta. It has 115,000 on the clock. Everything on the car works except the power antenna. The A/C works but the seller informed me that it will need a recharge in the future. All of the other electrics including dash displays work well. The car drove very well. It has had the brakes, alternator, and tires replaced in the last coule of years. Paint is very nice except for a blemish in the back by the rear bumper. The car had been backed into in a parking lot scraping the paint. The body panel is fine. The front area of the car had been resprayed due to love bug damage (pesky insects here in Florida known to ruin a finish). The bodywork is fine. All in all it is a very pleasant car to drive. After negotiating with the seller a bit he has lowered his price to $2850. Is this a fair price for a Reatta in this condition? I plan on using it as a daily driver should I buy it.Thanks for your help,Tim
reattadudes
sounds like a real steal. Cars of Particular Interest (CPI) Guide shows this car in #3 (average) condition at $4775. in really ratty shape, $3150.Mike
padgett
Sounds like the right price. Have dropped about 40% since 2001. I would run the s/n through carfax and verify that the s/n in the BCM matches the car.climate screen/warm and off at same time to get into diagnostics. Step through to "Display VIN".Might ask how often the a/c needs recharging, R-12 is pricey by itself and any leak can be very expensive to fix. Tinker
Here's some Reatta PRICES to compare.
Shelby
If the A/C goes it could be $400-900 Windshields are $1200 Check the Brake fluid If it is black and gooky. Expensive fit ahead. For $2850 it needs to be really nice.
Tim Surrency
I checked the car again today. It ran fine. However the CRT displayed "Computer Communication Problem Detected" when I started checking the system out. It also stated the engine was over heating when it was not, that the door was ajar when it was not and that there was an electrical loss. When I checked the gages on the CRT it everything looked ok. Of course the wife is advising me to run not waslk from the car. What do ya'll think. Is this emblematic of $$$ further problems? Thanks,Tim
Shelby
I sold an 89 Red /Grey with 139K miles recently in fair shape that didn't need anything. For $1800 If you don't have a lot of money to put into this car and you don't know the real History and it is going to be your daily driver. It is to much at $2850
Barbie
when you really get into the diagnostics...if it says ok...they are...when you go further into each screen it just tells you IF there was a problem...what it would say....
padgett
"Communications error" in *history* could just mean the battery was disconnected. You would want to clear it and see if it comes back.If you have a high speed connection, the complete service manual is downloadable from www.reatta.net - every owner should have one, particularly in the electrics, the Reatta is "different". Agree it could be a negotiation point.
RatReatta
i bought my reatta a little over a year ago for 1200$ the only thing wrong was that the engine was shot. i did a bit of looking around and found an 89 regal with 50k miles and had the engine swaped in for 750 parts and labor, since then there is nothing that i have had to fix in the car, i do a lot of small projects, usually one a weekend because i like doing things with my car. anyway, just my thoughts, if you really want a reatta it isnt too difficult to find a nice one for sale. most of them have incredibly loving owners who fix something even if they only expect it to go wrong.
