TwinCamFan
My uncle is a used car dealer in Oregon, he tells me about cars and prices he pays from auction as well as private party buys. He keeps me pretty well informed on the prices of the cars he know would be of interest to me. Though he hasn't bought a TC in three or four years,I am still amazed at how very little good used cars are 'worth' Sometimes cars less than ten yearsold are sold for less than a thousand bucks Point is this, cars are really only worth what they are worth to YOU. I wouldn't sell my TC for five oreven ten thousand, I'm not saying I wouldn't sell it for any price, people who say that are kiddingthemselves. It's just that the amount of driving/owning pleasure I get from the TC right now has a high value to me. Five years from know who knows? Is five thousand a 'good' price on a TC? Factor in not just condition, condition, condition, the three most important factors in buying a car, but try to consider the personal value to you. Do you like the color (heck I have bought some cars that were just to good to pass up and quickly sold them because I just couldn't fall in love with the color, 'Plum Crazy', 'Sublime Green' not for me thanks)Does it have the drivetrain chioce you really want (the MOST critical factor for me personally)?Don't count on being able to turn a profit on the car through resale, 99% of cars just don't do that.If you are buying a car you like to enjoy it, five thousand is a great price. It also helps owning a 15 year old car if you don't mind working on it yourself
