1957 Buick Riviera Special oil/vaccuum pump

(364 motor) Has anyone here ever welded the holes on their secondary vaccuum pump to close it off from the oil pump. The vaccuum pump appears to operate the wipers only. It should not interfere with the oil pressure once it is sealed off. And the wipers can be electric. We cannot find the vaccuum pump so we thought we'd try this. In all honesty, the holes are welded and will be machined flat tomorrow. We DO have an extra plate if we are unsuccessful. We were advised that someone posted about a similar situation not to long ago on this site. Thank you kind Buick folk. And thank you, "73 Electra", for sending us here. It somehow feels <BR>like home.
