Guest
I've got a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 (3.4L V-6) with 123,000 miles on it. It's been sitting in my driveway for the last 6 weeks because I not driving it anymore. Last night I replaced the battery because the car had no power and would not respond when trying to jump start. After replacing the battery, there was still no power. It won't even make an attempt to start, no lights, radio, etc. The last time I tried to get it started (a few weeks ago), the battery was very week and would only turn the engine over a few times. The last time it turned over, I heard a "poof" sound and then I lost power. When I got out of the car, I could smell something that reminded me of a firecracker. It was a burnt sulfer type of smell.Any ideas on what could be wrong. I checked all the fuses, including the 40 & 60 amp ones under the hood and didn't think any of them were blown (it was dark and I was working with a bad flashlight so I'm not 100% sure). htrdsx
You probably burnt out a fusible link somewhere between the battery and the switch. Also check the cables and make sure they have good contact on both ends.GaryB My old car pages
