I need to know what the judging rules are regarding the use or non-use of the original CC/DD bolting on my '58 Dodge pickup. I'm restoring the truck for show and the most of the original marked bolts are in rough shape. The rules say that bolt head grade marking was first seen in about '48. If I use class 5 capscrews, will this be OK, or am I going to get nicked a point per bolt? I have not found a source for re-popped capscrews as of yet. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark...Welcome to the Forum!

I do not have the knowledge to answer you, however, if you click on the "Search" area at the top of the page, punch in "bolts", when prompted click on "All...".

You will find a miriad of posts on this subject. It has surfaced many times over the years.

Ron Barnett and others, are very knowledgeable concerning bolts.

I am confident you will here from some good sources shortly...

Mark....You can use anything that matches the look of the original or that the manufacturer offered as optional equipment. Anything that does not duplicate the "How could it have looked when it left the factory" theory can be subject to point deduction. In the case of bolts the deduction is indeed one point for each incorrect bolt up to a maximum of ten for the entire vehicle. Hope this is helpful to you.

From another forum, I learned of an outfit that specializes in Power Wagons. They have offered the correct bolts you are talking about. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the outfit, but a computer search for Power Wagon should turn up something. Also try posting your needs on the Plymouth Owner's Club site. www.plymouthbulletin.com Some one there should steer you in the right direction. Good luck, Bob wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif
