In an earlier thread Dyke's Automobile Encyclopedia was referred to. At that time I had never really seen any of Dyke's books. Since then I purchased one on Ebay printed in 1923. Last night I sat down with it and couldn't put it down, what a great book. I think it was Father Ron that mentioned it and just wanted to say thanks. It's a terrific book. I agree with an earlier comment that it should be in reprint. For what it's worth!

The Blue Book, as Dan calls it is a rather large document, 500 plus pages, and there would be the problem of determining which annual edition to select for republication. I value the four copies I have, but there are enough of the originals out there and I really don't believe there enough of us really old tin enthusiasts to make it profitable. It may be that we will just have to use our own copies to answer questions posted on the DF. rcirrili - glad you got one, great reading huh?

I also acquired a 1943 version which I haven't received yet. Between the two I should be set with some good research material. There a couple more available on ebay now. Type in Dyke's for the quick search.

Another problem with a re-issue: Nobody in their right mind would put up with a new book have such a horrid index. Or rather, at least in my edition, horrid indexes.
There would have to be a lot of editing to bring the organization up to par.
Tod
------------------
Plymouth: The First Decade
