Peter J.Heizmann
Idle...hope all is well. Cannot answer for PeterG, however, I offer my input...Changes are on the horizon...this AACA website, as well as any other postition within the AACA from President-on-down the pecking order is "volunteer time". The Internet Committee is working hard, planning, and, so on, to revamp, and/or, improve this site.I have absolutely nothing to do with the decisions mentioned above, just passing on our "Club" officials charges. As for the time frame, please be patient. Regards, Peter J. Heizmann

Peter J.Heizmann
Idle...You are not being petty. In reality, you are asking a darn good, over-due question, of which, benefits the "newbies" to the site.Steve, Janet, Terry Bond on-board, and, the Internet Committee as a whole, are working to update our site. The way I look at it, is, the site is going from infancy to the next level. Let's face it, you, me, and, many others have become accustomed to eachother's input and personalities over the years. All of us have contributed interesting thoughts on a miriad of subjects, that, hopefully, assisted someone along the line.Regards, Peter J. Steve Moskowitz
Just a brief note gang, we do have a Website Redesign Committee that is actively working on a upgrade to our site. Peter and a local computer company have been working on some technical upgrades as well and I will hear the proposal this morning. If you have any thoughts on what you would like to see on our site, now is the time to shout! Thanks.

Guest
Sal ~ I'ts not the inability to spell certain words that bothers ME, it's the lapses that occur when typing. Spell check would catch those things for those of us to whom good spelling means something. I realize to some it means nothing and they wouldn't use spellcheck even if it were available. But as it is I always review everything after it is typed to try and make it as accurate and correct as possible. I do not subscribe to the excuse that correctness of grammar and spelling is not necessary on discussion forums like this. I would prefer to be viewed as reasonably intelligent than as some dimwit who cannot compose an intelligent sentence. Now as for not being able to spell a word in the first place, we have the synonym. A synonym is a word you use when you cannot spell the word you wanted to use. hvs
Guest
I agree with Howard, I am one of those people too who strive for proper spelling.(Although not always proper grammar). Spellcheck would be an excellent option on the new forums.
Steve Moskowitz
Thankfully I finally started using it on my regular emails...most of us are not excellent at typing, hence a whole lot of "mis-spelled" words. I will add your suggestion to the list.
1937hd45
Spellcheck would be great. I have some glitch in my computer that drops letters that I type, it is a pain to have to go back and add the missing letters.
Guest imported_klb
1937hd45;That dropped letter thing might just be your keyboard. I have a similar problem, I'm constantly having to go back and insert spaces between words. Really annoying. The computer guy says it's my keyboard doing it. I really have to hammer the keys to be safe. And this is a brand new system..... sigh.Time to get a new different keyboard.

Guest
klb ~ The right end of my spacebar went dead several months ago. This is also MY 4th keyboard. On the first 3 the left side died. They are all Gateway products and the first three were replaced under warranty. The computer is now out of warranty so no free replacement for this one. Since I don't know how to type anyway, I can make do with only 1/2 of a space bar.My major problem seems to be that i get my finger off the shift key before i get the other finger off of the letter, so I get a lot of inproper lower case letters. Then I have to go back and correct those errors. See, I did it twice in this paragraph. Spellcheck would bring these up and correction could be made with a touch on the a mouse instead or having to wander all through the post.Bob ~ Are your keyboards Gateway?hvs
6219_Rules
Aside from hardware problems, spellchecking is available if you buy a third party software, or use a current desktop program like Word as an interface to your browser. I believe IE will allow that. At the very least, you can write your responses in Word, check it, grammer check it (although I don't trust that engine at all), even flesch score it...then copy, and paste the finished post into a new post here on the forum. I do not know this program set but I suspect if it came with SpellCheck, you would have it available. Check into the third party solution. They will often run as a TSR or on top of the system invisibly. This could mean more system utilization, but given the systems available I think it should be limited. Give it a try. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Guest
Randy, too much trouble. To me this whole forum is merely a plaything and while I may [censored] a little about computer problems, they really don't amount to much. I think I'll just muddle along as I have been. It won't effect anything that really matters. hvs
DizzyDale
Hows this for a new concept....Can ANYONE spell dictionary or is that just too much work?diz
Guest
Diz ~ Not only can I spell it, but I know where mine is. Right here next to the keyboard and it gets regular use in forum posts. The trouble with many people is that they can't even come close enough to the spelling of a word to find it in a dictionary. hvs
