Guest
Hi all. I have a '60 Electra w/401, and it has developed some kind of electrical issue. The generator light will slowly get brighter when the RPM's are high while it is driven. I put a new battery in it last fall, and it has charged it enough every time I have started it to restart no problem. I am trying to figure out if this is a generator problem, or maybe the voltage regulator? Any thoughts? I didn't know if this may be a common issue either. Thanks! *edit*I forgot to mention, the light is not on at all when the engine is at idle.
GMPARTSMAN
Make sure the v-belt is not slipping due to being too loose, or glazed. If it checks out you need to have the generator output and the voltage regulator checked.
