Guest imported_DaveZZZ
Hi all.I might have a chance to get the whole front (bumper, grille, fenders, hood)of a 67 Olds 98, along with a few other parts. The only problem is that I am in NH and the goods are in SC, and the seller wants no part of shipping it. This means that I would either have to drive down, which I don't have time for right now, or find someone on that end who can help me. Is there anyone in the Sumter area that might be willing to lend a hand? I'd throw in a few bucks to make it worth your time. Truth be known, I don't really even know what I'd be asking you to do- I have no idea how one ships items that size. I suppose that if someone in that area happened to be heading north anyway in the near future, I could pay for gas or something? Is there a proper etiquette to this request?ThanksDave
86 2dr.ltd
Dont know if you'll have any luck with your request. Im near Albany NY we moved some stuff from Dads estate to my sisters in SC once. My advise would be take a 3day weekend, rent a uhaul if you dont have a truck and run down there and get them. Thats alot of odd shaped stuff for shipping. shipping will be expensive not to mention the packaging. If you really need them go get them. Id say its a 14-16 hour drive, I did Albany to Greensboro in 12, 14 is safer as far as speeding. You'll be beat but its realistically doable in 3 days. Could be done in 2 if hes got the parts off the car but there is the sleep issue.I had one fender shipped from chicago for $70, cant remember if the guy charged me for crating it or not. Its expensive so if you put your time into the savings you can feel you are working. Gas is another story but believe me they arent paying what we are up here for gas. Still about 6-7 tanks in our LSS round trip to Knoxville.

Guest imported_DaveZZZ
Well,In a different situation I'd do just that. Either rent a truck and drive down or fly down and do a one way rental. 15 hour drives are pretty routine for me, I do them for various reasons several times a year. BUT, I just started a new job, and I already have to borrow a couple of as yet unaccrued vacation days, so I just don't think that I can get there in the near future, especially since my next few days are pretty booked.I don't actually need the nose, I was just going to scoop it up as a spare (I am a pack rat). BUT, the center of the grille in question does still have the red plastic olds logo, which has fallen out of EVERY other 67 98 I have seen.-Dave
