Covertible data base discussion question.....

An interesting 6000 mile 1990 convertible on EBay for 15,000.00.

In the description it is noted that out of 2437 convertibles made, Barney's database only lists 487.

Is their any other remotely reliable source, or database such as a DMV or Polk report that could detect a closer number of survivors? Is there a general acceptable percentage that the industry uses to determine a survival number?

Just curious.....

Just came in from a all day playing with my Reattas....put the blue 1991 on the rack to check out the underside and started cleaning, finished by replacing the front pads,

So my initial comments are .... we have all 305 convertibles from 1991 listed, if you count is correct, then we only have 182 from 1990, seems low because I know we have 61 of the Select Sixtys listed.

Your question about getting a list from some other source.... it can be done by state for a few $$$, I suspect it could also be had from Polk as they seeem to have some method of knowing how many total are registered. Again they charge.

Appears to be a moot question to me .......

Even if we knew how many convertible survived out of the original 2437, what is their condition? Although registered, many would have high mileage, been wrecked n repaired and/or ready to be cannabilized to keep others going, while some lucky ones have, like this one on Ebay, survived over a decade with only 6000 miles while maintained in a good environment. How could we possible determine "status" of those survived? I found Flint to be very enlightening as to what's out there and look forward to Plano to see even more near perfect Reattas as well as driven ones.

I am just proud of having a beuatiful nice driving Buick with low mileage out of less than 2500 made. My only concern is about having parts available, the cost of parts n repairs and normal maintenance....... and keeping Baybee original.

God Speed and Happy Reatta Trails and see ya'll at Plano.... in a few months!!!

I'm not going to make Plano unfortunately, work interferes! Speaking of "High Mileage" Converts. there was one at Flint from the Toronto, Ont. Canada area with, seems to me over 300,000 miles. The new Owner brought it to Flint but didn't know much about it. Looked great especially for the mileage.
