Question from a novice

Well I've had my Buick for a few years now, finally got it on the road. It's been a great experience. The only problem is, much to my chagrin, is that I am not sure which model it is! I have a 51 Buick super sedan but cannot tell if it is model 51 or 52. There are no ID plates on the firewall, where I think they are supposed to be, and pictures of the models 51 and 52 sedans look the same to me. Is there an easy way to tell? Thanks!

1951 engines numbers start at 6240100X
1952 engines numbers start at 6646230X
The X is the series ie 7 for a super.
However, after 50 years your car may not have the original engine.

If it's a Model 52, you will have a 125.5 inch wheelbase. If it's a Model 51, you would have only a 121.5 w/b.
Also, at a quick glance, the Model 52 has a rear "quarter" (or "vent") window, the Model 51 doesn't.
Hope this helps!
Randy
BCA #9592 smile.gif" border="0
