Guest imported_dantm4
Since I was unsure when the transmission fluid had been changed I added a little trans-x (seemingly per rec. of some posts here) and now I think I have a transmission shudder (above 45 right around 1500-1800rpm, car is fairly ok at 70 though, but horrible at 60). Wondering if the problem was already there and the trans-x in "helping" rejuvinate the fluid has made it worse, or if I'm just unlucky and should have subscribed to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage. As soon as I get paid next was probably getting the fluid changed anyway. Just curious what the groups thoughts were. I'm getting similar symptoms as other earlier posts, but haven't done any of the recommended tests yet as I just read those posts last night. I have a 90' with 90K on it, and have found out the fluid was never changed. -Dan p.s. guess I was also wondering what anyone thought of "transmission shudder" fix-it additives (don't have the trans-x in front of me at the moment, it might be one of those too)
padgett
Classic sign of a failing Motorola coilpack or possibly another ignition problem is shudder up a slight hill at 45-50 mph.If that is the problem, I'd go to a whole later Delco ignition rather than pay $100 for a replacement coilpack. Guest imported_dantm4
So you don't think it's the trans-x at all? Wondered about the ignition system after reading some of the posts as well. Grandfather had the wires replaced and I put in some Bosch platinum +4 plugs. If it is the coilpack what would you recommend since I'm just now increasing my car knowledge? I was also wondering since I'd like to increase the gas mileage if something like a jacobs electronics mileage master would work and how it would be hooked up, all the ads I've seen seem to indicate it works best with distributor equipped cars. Jacobs Mileage Master Any input is appreciated, thanks!-Dan90' with 90K
