Congradulations to you to John. Looks like a lot of friends will be partying in Philly together. Also, as Bob and I have been conversing about, Bob "Iron Man" Ruckman of Maryland was to go in a hospital for surgery in December. We have no more information on Bob. His large Car Show Plaque collection was recently donated to the AACA Museum. Good Luck Bob! Wayne

Hey Wayne,

I got it figured out. Drive up with the tank trailer so you arrive in Cobleskill on Wednesday, February 11. You can drop the trailer in my yard and deadhead down to Philly so you're there on Thursday. I'll contact you when it's empty and we can swap for another full one. It may take a few years but at least it would be out of your way! crazy.gif Let me know...

Congratulations, John!

You were also on my list of expected ME winners. Sheesh!!! If you folks were horses or Vegas had a line on this contest, I'd be raking in big bucks on my bets!!! cool.gif

Seriously, I feel fortunate to have received the newsletters from all you ME award winners. After receiving your publications for the past year, I was certain that you all would be receiving "The Letter"! grin.gif Again, congratulations to all!!!

Thanks Ron & Bruce for your kind comments. I'm still not satisfied with my graphics. Also, I would love to do color as both of you do. I've had multiple solicitations from Leesburg Printing down in Florida. I'm tempted to check them out to see what a color version of the Bulletin would cost. They also handle the mailing which might be the means to persuade our Board to give them a try. We switched printers several years ago from offset to xerography which cut our cost in half but also resulted in poorer picture quality. Our Region is a conservative bunch and the newsletter is a major budget expense; so I'd better tred lightly. They'll probably say "You're an award winning newsletter; so why do you need to change?" I'm really not eager to go the color printer route for over 200 copy distribution. Yes, the bar gets higher each year; but I think we are probably our own severest critics!

Congrats to all editors for AACA region and chapter newsletters, but especially to those of you who receive the ME. As most of you know I served about 10 years (of the 15 that I was a National Director and observed the incredible changes that took place with the technology shift from cut and paste to desktop publishing. I assisted Sally with editing for our region. The newsletter won a couple of Excellence and she was ME one year. (incidently I did absolutely exclude myself from the vote whenever our newsletter came before the committee). I recently looked at our Region award winning newsletters from the mid-80s and they would barely qualify for a Merit today.

I entered in on this thread to just confirm that the professionalism and quality of the region and chapter newsletters have improved dramatically over the last 15 or 20 years. Again, CONGRATS to all of you and look forward to seeing you in Philly.

Thanks for the kind comments R. Barnette. I expect to se you in Philly. Ron S., That would work fine with dropping the trailer. A dropped storage tanker like this would run about $1,200.00 a month.... guess that puts the cheap used oil in a new light? Keep the forum going guys, back to work. Good afternoon, Rocky,

Elaine & I wish to convey our most sincere congratulations to you for winning the "Spark Plug" award this year ! You certainly deserve it. The efforts you've clearly put forth to vastly improve your region, in so many areas, should continue to be nationally recognized. You are simply "the best"!

It is with immense pride that I pass on the news that came in the mail last Monday from AACA that Elaine has been selected as one of the lucky 7 to receive a "Master Webmaster" award this year. Not bad for somebody who also edits the newsletter and holds down a full-time "pressure-cooker" type of job, too ! She continues to amaze me with her drive, tenacity, and talents every day. She only built the website in the spring of 2002, so she's come a long way in a very short time. Last month, she received HVPR's "Bob Baucom Distinguished Member" award for 2004. My shirt buttons continue to pop with pride for her!

Again, our sincerest congratulations to you, Rocky, and we look forward to seeing you in Philly next month.

V/R, Dick Tarr

Prez, HVPR

Dick:

Thanks for the kind words you posted for me. As I said in an earlier post I was just honored to get another master webmaster award and then to learn that I was getting the Spark Plug award was a little shocking. Each year more regions are adding websites which means more talent being added to the pool of already great webmasters out there. Add in the fact that all of them get a little better each year and you have the same thing as with the newsletter editors; tough standards to live up to. So again I feel honored to be receiving these awards this year.

Also send my congradulations to Elaine for her awards. I know she has put a lot of time into making both the club and the website a great success and it shows with all the time she has put into it.

See both of you in Philly!

Rocky

Ron,

Just want to clear up an earlier post you made about the presentation of the Master Editor and Master Webmaster Awards. I can assure you that they will be continued to be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet. This year the presentations will be a little different because the national President will actually present the awards to the award winners. I spoke with President Vicini and he agreed that it was important to recognize this group just like any other award winners. (This is something that I always wanted to change).

One of the award winners is working on slides for me so that we can show the home page of the websites as the winners come forward at the banquet, similar to the Master Editor Award presentations.
