67Cadi
On occasion when you shut of my '67 it will keep running. If I turn it back on then switch it off 90% of the time it will shut off. At first I thought it was a problem with the ignition switch but power is being cut to the coil. Is this phenomenon dieseling? It's been a while since I had a car with a carb. What grade fuel do you guys run in your cars? Since mine had sat for so long I've been running the cheap stuff with a can of Techron for the past two tanks. Is this a sign of needing to rebuild the carb?I have also seen lead substitute in a can, is this something I should consider running in my car? Or is it just a waste of $$$$? In advance I appreciate your help!
Bob Kinker
Sounds like it may be dieseling. Try a tank or 2 of 93 octane, it may clear up the problem. My 76 Ford F-250 with a 460 will do the same on todays regular, along with spark knock, etc. It has a thirst for 93 octane (quite a thirst) but it runs as it should with it. 67Cadi
Thanks Bob! I'll give some better gas a try and see how she does!Is there anything on the Rochester Carb on this car that would help lessen the dieseling?
