SalG...Forum Needs Help

Recommended Posts

Bruce,

As far as I'm concerned, you of all people needn't apologize for anything, let alone what you were attempting to do in straighting that guy out in your post. He just didn't get it, no matter who tried! In the almost four years that I've been reading your posts, you've done nothing more than to go out of your way to help your fellow members on here. Great job!

Anyways, he's gone now and it's time to get back to enjoying this forum again.

Well I think that Euro-nutz spelled it out himself and didn't know it. I don't usually comment in public about PMs, but this guy's comments needed to be aired.

He did mention 4 times about his $900 day allegedly in travels to go check out 2 Amphicars for me publically in several posts. I only asked him for info which I would gladly pay for if it leads to a sale. He insinuated that I owe him the $900! The only info I got was that there were a red and blue car that are going to auction in the "Arkansas circut" and I should look in the traderonline.com site because " [color:"red"]I have to tell you that I've gone as far as I'm going to go on this. Tracking down these cars was financially ruinous for me ". Then he was all happy about a car "he found" in Utah. It has been for sale for 2 1/2 years in Hemmings and co-indecently in traderonline.com! So I figured out his "help" quickly. As an added note, he would not give me a phone number, full name (Only gave me "Bob") or call me. He kept saying he couldn't afford a phone. He could afford to drive all over the place on a whim, but no phone? He also refused my offer for him to call collect. Big red flag!

Maybe he had some real contibutions too add, but wading through the BS is not worth the trip.

John

Hey Peter

Getting back to the title of this post (Forum Needs Help) well why not. I'm here all the time reading the forum so I'll help. Just tell me what you want me to do and I'll get busy. You need me to be a moderater or an informent of some type why not. I challenge even the rest of the regulars to help out to instead of just sitting on the sidelines. Why not, were here all the time so lets give a helping hand. I'm sure Peter of all people would know who would make a good helper from the quality of posts from all of you regulars. It's not like we would be going out of are way. We are here almost every day not if every day reading the posts so lets help.

My feeling exactly, Sky. I have volunteered and will soon be taking up the mantle of Moderator to help with this forum. Europeancarnut made a good point though, and I thought it through.

I am on this forum for the most part every day. I read a good 45% of the posts generally anyway so it won't be a problem to read them all in a given day. I have also done this both as a volunteer and as a living for many years. So it seemed reasonable and correct. I am looking forward to getting more involved.

What we all can do as users, is to monitor as we go. Enjoy the forum and all it has to offer, but if you see something that is off color or offensive, particularly conflicts between posters, then report it to one of us. We will handle it and hopefully get everything back on track.

Now could someone please tell me how to stop my car from leaking like a screen door in a sub?

Stllrng, Well said and you should post more often. This guy posted 139 times in a span of 17 days of which would be a little to much even for Einstein.

Amphicar (John), My Amphicar came from Utah a few years ago and was advertised in Hemmings so I'm told, what are that chances that was my car?

Oh now STOP! You are turning my head, and its giving me a stiff neck

All of the moderators do a great job. It is not easy to make decisions to ban or move posts. These take deep consideration and a level head. Unfortunately we do not always see what they have to do to come to that decision. It is never arbitrary, but at times it looks that way. I know I felt miffed at the one Sal deleted, but while miffed, I also understood and was dismayed that he got the wrong impression of me. I am admittedly a Devil's advocate ... I have been called Satan's Little Helper more than once, but it comes with being intelligent, curious and above all, determined to question and be involved. Being disabled makes that tough, but now I can be again and I feel good about it.

Hey Randall

Thats pretty cool. I personaly think you would make a great mod. As far as helping out from now on I'll notify the mods on posts that have content that are not apropriate for the forum if the mods have not stepped onto it yet. Instead of like what most people do and just instigate things further and a post just gets way to out of hand.

But Randall, did you know moderators are required to eat lots of KK doughnuts so they will understand the discussion? The best ones are in Denver, so I may have to pick you up some day and make a road trip. And rocky mountain oysters are also a requirement for Western based moderators. They improve your stamina.

Really glad you are taking on this thankless position.

Exactly! Big differance between a good friendly arguments and just plain texas shootouts like the ones people were having with a recently band individual.

Howard, I would LOVE to scarf down some KKs with you...with a good cup of joe too.

But Rockie Mountain Oysters? Oh I think not thank you. I've seen too many hanging below Dodges and Ford trucks lately. (Have you SEEN them? I mean talk about OVER THE TOP)

Sheesh. Organ meat is not my cup of tea. Ugh. Now I have to find the Malox.

Ron,

The car in Utah is in a museum and still advertised in traderonline.com and Hemmings which is where "your-a-nut" found it I'm sure. It happens to be the same color-ish as yours is now. Odd, yes being that your color is not a Amphicar color. It's the same as the Pontiac Moon car white w/blue piping interior. It's way overpriced! Here is the pic from traderonline....

John,

Its just odd. The same color and mine was in the Harris museum in Utah. But mine is in much better shape especially after last winters work on it and is 3 years newer. Off to Carlisle tomorrow to walk around and look at mostly junk as this swap meet has really changed in the past 5 years.

There you have it, Sal...

Randall, Scott Warnke (SKYSTHELIMIT)would be an asset as moderators. Scott asked for my opinion, and, these two guys would be a big help. I would also recomment Wayne Burgess & Bruce W., however, both of these guys have quite a plate full, but, worth asking them.

Whatever, these guys would take a lot of the pressure off.

My suggestion to all of you above is contact PeterG (Peter Gariepy, Web Mechanic to receive clearance. He can inform you of what is expected.

(webmechanic@aaca.org)

If PeterG agrees, he will give you access to programs for all the tools you will need.

Out of here...

Peter J.

Wayne,

It appears that you have been honored by being made a Moderator of the DF. Hopefully its for real and not a joke as you suggested.

Congratulations!

Thanks Bruce. I never said I wouldn't take the job, if offered, but I would like to know who did and why. I also agree with Mr. Heizmann that there are enough of us normal minded(?) people on the forum to make it easy on everyone. Well guys, sorry, but I gotta go to work. You fellows keep up the good work. Wayne-moderator?

I had thought about the moderator thing back when Peter asked for some help and SalG and others volunteered. But with the schedule I had, I didn't volunteer because I can't keep the watch on the forum that it needs. I had a stretch in the past couple years were it was two to three months between chances to look at the forum. And my schedule has gotten really bad again for the next few months. Really, can't afford the time to go to Hershey but, it will probably be the only thing to keep me from going nuts.

Sal...I agree that Bruce would be an asset. Wayne is all set up.

Just wanted to get some help your way. Know what it can be like. Been there, done that. With the combination of you, Randall, Wayne, and, hopefully, Bruce, all of we members will benefit.

Just got in guys. I knew somebody was talking about me today. My ears were burning all day. And my wife stayed home, so it wasn't her blowing in my ears. Just to let everybody know, I e-mailed PeterG back and accepted the job. I hope everyone doesn't expect me to be a saint now. And Howard, you're in big trouble too, because I can tell every time you start to pick on someone. The forum actually took a turn this week in my opinion, when everyone pulled together to ban an agitator as a group. I'm proud to know you guys. I'll be roaming Hershey this week, so expect to see me. Wayne

I second Peter and Wayne in this. Let's get together and work on this as a team. It will make the job more enjoyable and keep a continuous eye on events.

I am still not sure whether he was an agitator, a ghost (someone pretending to be something they are not) or simply an overzealous person trying too hard to fit in. It really does not matter.

I think the club and forum spoke defining where it wants to go.

I feel proud and very pleased to be part of it. Thank you for this opportunity.

Lets here it for Burgess and McGrew.

We need more fellas like these two guys. I think you will both do a great job. Although I know I'm still pretty much the new guy on the block I'm still willing to offer my time. So if you guys think you could use any extra help you know who to look up.
