The difference between the 1977 and 1978 Eldorado Biarritz

My Eldo is a 1977 but it appears, according to the Cadillac Catalog, to be a very early model 78.

The question is, have I misread or misinterpreted the book? My car has the chrome spars that wrap from the back roof line to the front of the hood ending in spear points. There are carriage lamps on the padded top and the script "Biarritz" just below the opera window. Does anyone know if this is the same as the '77 Biarritz? Will the CLC do a historic registry of the car? I seem to remember they only do it up to 1970. Thanks in advance.

Randall, I had an elderly friend who owned a beautiful 1976 Eldorado Biarritz. The trim on that car was exactly as you describe. My hunch is that the exterior trim did not change for the Biarritz during the years that the trim package was available on that generation Eldorado.

The difference between a '77 and '78 Eldorado is the grille. The '77 had a mesh style grille and the '78 had the egg-crate style. I love those cars!

Ah now that makes sense! I understood too that the 76 was the last year to have the Automatic Load Leveling system standard. Mine does not have it. At least I do not think that it does.

And I totally agree with you, they are wonderful cars.
