Turn Signals

You are correct, self returning turn signals where first placed on the '41 model year of Zephyr. Also first for that year were: INSIDE push button door handles and OPTIONAL outside push button door handles. If you opted for the outside door buttons there was a spring installed on an arm in the frontof the door to pop the door open. Push down door lock buttons on the window sills where also first this year (The inside push button door handle necessitated that, for one could no longer lock the car from the inside by pushing the inside door handle forward.) Also available, an overdrive unit PLUS a columbia overdrive, giving the driver TWELVE forward speeds.

On the other hand, the Ford did not offer turn signals as standard equipment on the '41 model. I believe they were an option.
