Charles2
Did Buick paint the transmissions they installed in the 1940 cars? I have just removed the one in my Special and cleaned it. I found some red paint daubs on the outside but no residue of paint coat even in protected locations. The car only has about 50,000 miles on it so I think the transmission is original; the innards are like new. So, did they paint it and if so, what color? Also, can anyone tell me what the red paint marks mean, if anything?
