66 Toro Value

Hey Guys.

Just wondering what the value of a 66 Toronado is. There is one near me that's been for sale for months, and it makes me so sad to see it going unloved. It looks pretty good, although I have not looked too closely. But at $4000, I would think that one of the Toro lovers would scoop it up. My very poor brother-in-law wants it, but he doesn't have the money, and I want to save it, but I'm lucky if I can find and hour or two a week to put into the ninety-eight.

I guess I am just curious if these are especially valued, especially being the first year of a really unique car.

I don't know if this will help at all, but I'll try. I bought my Toro from an Olds collector 2 years ago and paid $3,400 for it. The car was 90% done. After I had it for a year a local Oldsmobile dealer offered me $10,000 for it. I obviously didn't take it.

The N.A.D.A. price guide lists value as follows for a Standard model w/ a 425:

low value-$5,406

average value-$11,500

high value-$16,938

The values for a Deluxe with a 425 are a little higher:

low-$6,094

average-$12,875

high-$19,250

The Deluxe model has 9600 on the body plate and a Standard has 9400. You can find more info about body plate identification at toronado.org under the "faq" section.

Hope this helped in some way.

Yeah, when I first saw the production numbers that's what I figured too, but these values came right off the N.A.D.A. web page. I don't know, it would make more sense that lower production = higher value but who knows.
